alma y sazon newly open at the public market emeryville

word has it (as foreseen earlier this month by the e'ville eye) that the la cocina-run kiosk at the public market emeryville has a fresh new tenant in vegan mexican eatery alma y sazon.

the family-run food business from fernanda lagunas, paolo lagunas and xavier herrera, is known for its michoacan-inspired vegan cuisine – gluten-free tacos, tortas, flautas, tamales and other mexican specialties with flavorful fillings crafted from vegan ingredients such as hibiscus, jackfruit and mushrooms. (locals might recognize the cuisine from alma y sazon pop-ups at locations such as oakland's mia and temescal brewing.)

alma y sazon is at the public market emeryville, 5959 shellmound street, emeryville. catering is available. the new eatery is open every day except monday, and will celebrate their grand opening on june 20.
