PSA: the roomy, corner restaurant space at university and milvia, set at the base of the stonefire apartment building, has just softly opened after years of wait.

oakland's sobo ramen has launched a second japanese ramen restaurant in the modern-industrial berkeley space with high windows onto university avenue. the restaurant features counter service with build-your-own bowls of ramen in a range of broths, spice levels, proteins and toppings, along with sides such as tempura seafood and veg, and both meat and veg-friendly skewers. (watch for soju-based cocktails to come soon.)

we remember noting the build-out of this restaurant space when it first began to develop before 2020, so it's nice to see the doors open at long last onto a large, clean-lined dining room with a colorful, japanese-inspired mural. welcome to downtown berkeley, sobo ramen.
